Programs

The Academy’s curriculum is based on the Montessori Method which has proved successful for children who require specialized instruction in a nontraditional setting.

Academic coursework is supplemented with arts education, physical training, life skills coaching, and religious instruction to develop the whole child.  Our goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing educational environment that extends beyond the classroom.

  1. Early Childhood Development and Preschool

Recognizing that many of a child’s habits, perceptions and behaviors are mapped by age three, the Academy will offer Early Childhood development programs that target families with babies/toddlers and expectant mothers in the community.  Our goal is to start our students at this early level and allow them to progress to our elementary and middle school programs.

  2. Elementary and Middle School

Jubilee Academy believes in providing a cultural literacy-based education grounded in classical teaching through the Montessori Method.  This program is for children ages 6 through 12.  This age group is our current emphasis for the school years of 2010-2012.  Experience has shown us that children older than this target age group can be difficult to “re-train” particularly when the family support network is missing or runs counter to the values we are trying to instill at the Academy.  Our success with children in the community is best when we get them into the program early and work with them and their parents along a continuum.

  3. High School
By the time our children reach high school, their habits and beliefs are re-mapped to allow them to further their education in their target environment. Our goal is to transition children into mainstream schools, usually other independent schools in the Columbia area. When our older students are comfortable attending school with others who share similar life goals, beliefs and values, they can make conscious choices that remove them from the cycle of dependency and poverty.  We would like all of them to pursue academic degrees or career training that enables them to be productive, contributing members of society.
